It's no wonder then, that Parisians have mastered a rustic look full of character whilst still achieving elegance. Try buying one statement antique like a bureau, chandelier or even iron bed frame as a centrepiece to the room. Compliment with soft, feminine furnishings like ruched bedding and silk curtains. Mix Styles:
Mixing modern and traditional styles in an understated way is something Parisians are fantastic at. Although we may not all have high ceilings, period fireplaces and wooden herringbone flooring like a lot of the French - mixing your classics with more urban pieces like colourful plastic chairs, fun rugs, distressed wood, unusual lamps or art prints is an easy way to create the eclectic look and inject a bit of playfulness.

Notoriously dark, Parisian homes are all about embracing light. Keep walls and curtains serene white and add small touches of muted colours as seen here with this gorgeous pink throw and red vase.
